granular music recommendations?

Yo All....I'm trying to download and study some of the best music out there which features granular synthesis. I haven't heard much yet beyond Iannis Xenakis, but I'd love to know what your favorites are. Perhaps it would be worthwhile putting up a torrent of the same. If possible, kindly provide links to mp3 files or any other type of free downloads. Neural Nets in ChucK

Hi, Did I read correctly that ChucK now has support for neural nets? I've been coding neural nets in the signal path and in the time loop, and my beloved ChucK is so slow that I can only do 30 neurons or so in real time. I would like to hear more about this new feature. I looked on the Unit Generators page and didn't see anything there. What's up? Osculator does WiiMote to OSC (I've tried it on the Mac, wasn't too hard to get working), but maybe you want something built into ChucK itself? http://www.osculator.net /Stefan Stefan, Thanks, that's another piece of the puzzle, but yes I was looking for something built into ChucK itself. I will make do with Osculator as best as I can. I run into certain problems with external software like what version of OSX does it require. Oh? that means a $130 upgrade and a $100 disk, no I can't do that, etc... But soon I will have a Linux box and that will help things. Are there any plans to provide built-in ChucK support for the WiiMote and like devices? Les

Hi folks, I know the DEV TEAM is overworked to the max with releases and features and bug fixes and all that jazz, but this is a thing that has already been started I think. There was supposed to be some exploration on Spencer's part perhaps of native ChucK WiiMote support, or so I heard. I was just wondering where that effort drifted off to. I am in need of a WiiMote solution for Mac and/or Linux. For Linux I can use nescivi's code so that's cool, but I dunno about mac. Any advice or web links? I just gotta swing my guitar like an axe and make cool sounds like that! Les

sample rate defaults (jack)

Hi, I'm using ChucK with jack (compiled with makefile.jack). I was wondering if there's a way to set the default sample rate for chuck to be 44100, rather than 48000. I could change this guy: digiio_rtaudio.h:58:#define SAMPLING_RATE_DEFAULT 48000 // sampling rate but I thought I'd see if there were other options. Even better would be having an option to get the sample rate from the jack server. chuck 1.2.1.2 still doesn't work on 64-bit linux

All, Has anyone been able to get version 1.2.1.2 to work on 64-bit linux, without 32-bit compat libraries? It builds fine for me but seg faults on nearly every example. michael

ChucK Lab Video

Hi Spencer et. al., Here is a video under 15 minutes of me making music with ChucK Lab, which is basically an explosion of MAUI filling the screen and making cool music. USB Accelerometer Product Coming

Hi, For all us HID-heads, I thought I would mention the new product that I'm helping to develop. I was gonna make a 3-axis accelerometer on a USB interface. When I approached the company that makes the USB interface, I suggested they might want to make such a product for their product line. They replied with excitement, and a new product was born! I am not sure of its exact form down the road but they have the technology to make this product any way we want it to be. I figure a single 3-axis accelerometer plus their standard 8-I/O gamepad / joystick interface on a board the size of a stick of gum. Wrigley's will be proud. So please be aware that coming down the river is a new, hopefully inexpensive, HID part for us all to enjoy. Cheers! Les

getting ADSR::XTime()

Hi list, I'm afraid there is a bug on the getters side of the ADSR UGen. One can set adsr::attackTime( 10::ms ) and gets adsr::attackTime() as 0.010::samp, instead of (0.010*SR)::samp. So, to be able to use adsr::attackTime() => now correctly, one should do: adsr::attackTime()*sr => now Which I don't think is the way one would expect.
