I have made a program, scale.ck, that admits one to work with scales, including tuning stretch, céleste tremulant, retune them, and then save to a file, with a line of code that can be pasted back into the source, available at next program startup. Scale tunings can be put into tuning banks, and otherwise defined by your favorite method. Details in the file. I have also updated my program for diatonic tuning systems, diatonic.ck. Filters blowing up: any news?

At the end of November last year I posted to the list about a problem experiencing where chucks filters (lp, bpf etc) 'blow up' under certain conditions. Here's the archived post: https://lists.cs.princeton.edu/pipermail/chuck-users/2009-November/005045.h… I wondered if anyone has made any progress with finding a solution and/or figuring out exactly what was causing this. In a couple of months I'll be performing with a synthesis environment that I was part way through creating in ChucK before I ran into the filter bug. I'm hoping that I don't have to switch back to max/msp to go further (i much prefer the chuck environment), so I thought i'd give this one more bump on the list to see if there may be a fix in SCM, or otherwise in the pipeline somehow. If anyone is able to fix this I'd be extremely grateful!

Tabula Rasa + 3D Sound in ChucK

Hi, I started learning ChucK but then realized I wouldn't be able to make simple graphics to help me debug my program (is that actually the case?)... if so too bad... Also, AudioTwist is a pd external that does 3D sound well and has many features. My questions: 1. When is Tabula Rasa coming out? I'm assuming you will be able to draw things (kinda like processing) from inside ChucK. (unless, of course you can make simple graphics in ChucK already?) 2. Is anyone going to port AudioTwist (www.sat.qc.ca), or write similar 3D audio objects for ChucK? Can you do 3D audio in ChucK already?

static array of ugens???

Hello all- So I think I have figured out all the ins and outs of making static arrays and static UGens but I cannot figure out how to make a static array of static UGens. Maybe this is not possible. LAC

Fellow ChucKists, At the start of the next month the city of Utrecht (NL, EU) will host this year's Linux Audio Conference. There I'll do a workshop on ChucK but there will also be a panel discussion on various programmable open systems for audio (SC, PD, CSound, Nyquist, maybe more). This should help clear up many of the things that are unclear (to many) about the differences between these systems. The results of this will be posted online where they will hopefully help prevent flame-wars or at least give more substance to any that do arise. Of course this will involve some quick demonstrations. This leads to the question of what ChucK is especially good for as compared to other systems. Time for this will be brief in this context so I'd like to show some good stuff. I have some ideas of my own but I'd like to consult the list too. What's especially useful/fun to you? What (positively) surprised you compared to other systems? Debate, anecdotes and code examples are all welcome. Do come shake hands if you end up going to the LAC; at 2m with a afro I'm quite hard to miss. Yours, Kas.

wiimote hacks?

I have seen scattered postings related to wiimotes and ChucK, but nothing definitive. Is anyone out there using wii-remotes or nunchuks as controllers for ChucK? Are there any wikis or recipes for this kind of hack? Ge on Nightline

I just can't resist pointing out that I saw Ge last night in TWO different clips in an ABC Nightline piece on the Apple iPad. World renowned! In the second clip, an iPad had what looked like a circular piano keyboard. -Bill
