using miniAudicle UI with another text editor

Is there a way of "sending chuck code" to miniAudicle, therefore being able to use the GUI system ? I really like miniAudicle but i miss many "text-editor" features, like un/tabbing block of code, fast lauching / browsing files, etcs.. thanks chuckers!

Two loops?

Hello Is there any way for the two loops below to run simultaneously from the same shred? I'm wondering if, instead of weaving them together in the same "while true," I could separate them into different functions (but running at the same time), or something like that? Any responses/links would be much appreciated. Hi Matt, if you get some xruns only at start, the overall performance of your system seems to be ok. You would get many xruns otherwise. My guess: I think chuck needs some time to initialize and build your audio chain (in your script) etc. But you try recording beginning at the first sample. So chuck isn't ready early enough and jack misses some response from chuck. Something like 1000 ms => now at the start of the script may change that. I remember this fixed some xruns of this kind for me some time ago. But I have to admit, that I am not really convinced by my own description of the reasons above. Do you also get xruns if you only connect adc and dac and then advance the time? Harald

LiSa looping issue

Hello all, I'm writing a looper using LiSa. All is behaving just as expected except for this: When I overdub, I can't seem to get out of overdub mode. I'd like to default back to a non-overdubbing recording. The .loopRec function does not work. ChucK says that LiSa does not have that function. If I force 0 => *.loop, then my playback won't loop either. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Also, if I call *.clear, I get nothing. Hopefully I'm just slow :) Thanks. Code to remove all shreds from the VM?

Hi all! Does anyone know if there's some way to use Machine.remove to remove all currently running shreds? I couldn't find anything in the documentation and I tried a few different things...anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks!

Problems with running ChucK in terminal (Windows 7 64-bit): no sound!

I misspoke, I wasn't running as admin, I was running as a user (but with full privileges). It is strange about the sound card, I agree.. I figured if anything it would be a much better solution than my on-board audio. Perhaps I'll try to figure it out over the Summer when I've got a little time to spare. :) I still get some strange output using ChucK -v --loop in Windows but it all seems to resolve itself and it works, considerably better than it did on my previous installation. I don't know why, but as I'm sure many of you know, sometimes the best route is to start from scratch with a fresh install. BTW, as far as Linux is concerned, ChucK utilizing JACK built from source is AWESOME. Works amazingly well, and the Linux environs just feel better when working in a terminal, although I don't use Mac so I can't compare the two. The state of Linux drivers has generally been improving in the past few years, I think largely thanks to standardised devices, but that's not much help if you want it on Windows :-). It's still odd that the one card wouldn't work. You mentioned running as Admin, is that because you like to or is that needed? If it is needed that should probably be in the docs. Problems with running VM in terminal (Windows 7 64-bit)

Hello all! I am having a strange problem on my desktop PC running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have the chuck.exe binary installed for both the Windows cmd prompt (Windows/System32 folder) and for Cygwin, and it works directly (i.e. chuck foo.ck). However, when I start the VM using chuck --loop, I can't seem to add any shreds to the VM. It doesn't throw an error message or anything, and it appears to start as it should, it just doesn't seem to be listening to any input that I throw at it. I type "chuck + foo.ck" and there is no error message and no output in the terminal that is running "chuck --loop". The same error occurs in both Cygwin and in the basic Windows command-line programs. I have everything working fine (having followed the same exact steps) on my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and everything works fine (with some Jack finagling) on my Linux partition on both machines, but I'd like to be able to work in Windows on my desktop, as that is where I spend the bulk of my time for now. Thanks for any advice!

I tried: : me.arg( 0 ) => perhaps it returned some internal id : me.arg( -1 ) => good way of crashing chuck, don't try this at home! Did someone figure this out ? peace, hems
