granular music recommendations?

Yo All....I'm trying to download and study some of the best music out there which features granular synthesis. I haven't heard much yet beyond Iannis Xenakis, but I'd love to know what your favorites are. Perhaps it would be worthwhile putting up a torrent of the same. If possible, kindly provide links to mp3 files or any other type of free downloads. ChucK FLOSS - MIDI reference

Hi everybody, I added a new chapter to the ChucK FLOSS manual, MIDI Reference https://omnibook.pro/chuck/_full/#midi at the moment there are info about MIDI also under the Event Reference, which I don't wanna touch for now. anyway, there are a couple of classes I've never seen before, MidiMsgIn, MidiMsgOut and MidiFileIn, has anyone ever used them? cheers, Mario

Latency Vs Midi timings precision

Hi there, I am trying to synchronize my ChucK Loops and Synth with a friend. We use midi messages and I am Slave. I use Linux with Jack server. To ensure ChucK processing without glitches I play with latency (usually 186 ms). But I noticed that perdiodic midi messages are randomly delayed (kind of jitter of about 80ms) when received in ChucK. I also noticed that the jitter decrease when I reduce Latency. Latency is not a problem for me, and it is needed for Chuck to compute without glitches (XRun in Jack server). Do you know where the Jitter comes from (Linux, Jack, ChucK) ? Is there a solution to reduce it keeping some latency ? Happy Chucking, Julien

code to run when "remove shread" command is sent

Hi all, is there a way to run a bit of code after then ChucK receives the command to remove the shread? I'll try to be a bit more clear. I'm using a MIDI controller and my script controls its LEDs. the point is, when I remove the shread, the LEDs remain on. so I'd like to turn them off when the shread is removed. cheers, Mario

SndBuf - audio file with samplerate different from 44100

I forgot to say, that the program I posted in the previous mail returns a lot of errors, basically 97% of the file length. I suppose the samples which are the same are all 0. btw the bit depth is the same, they're both 16 bit. cheers, Mario

Hi, I merged the new chapter with the Event one, I thought was the best thing to do. so now everything is under the Event chapter like it was before, which is simply been expanded. cheer, Mario

SndBuf - audio file with samplerate different from 44100

Hi, It seems like SndBuf deals in a different way with audio files which have different sample rate. I tried this simple program where the 2 audio files samples are compared (perc.wav and perc2.wav which are the same file one 44100 and the other 48000 Hz sample rate), so that I can check if they are different. it looks like for SndBuf they are different. am I missing something? does SndBuf convert in some way the audio files? cheers, Mario SndBuf sample => blackhole; SndBuf sample2 => blackhole; sample.read("perc.wav"); sample2.read("perc2.wav"); <<< sample.length(), sample2.length() >>>; 0 => int err; for(0 => int c; c<sample.samples(); 1 +=> c){ if((sample.valueAt(c) - sample2.valueAt(c)) != 0){ 1 +=> err; } } <<< err >>>;

Hi Julius, Thanks, good to know. I was asking cause on the online editor this option (to generate chugins) is not available anymore, and the same when from Terminal I run "faust2" and then press TAB to see the list of "formats". I'll give it a try later on. In case I'll send a mail to the Faust mailing list, it seems weird to me that this option has been grayed out. generate Chugins using Faust

Hi, does anybody know if it's still possible to create ChucK chugins using Faust? I know about Fauck, that is an amazing project, but I remember a couple of years ago it was possible to generate Chugins as well. but now it looks like it's not possible anymore, also if I read about it on Kadenze (quote: Thanks to its architecture system, Faust can be used to generate a wide range of ready-to-use elements such as audio plug-ins (e.g., VST, AU, etc.), externals for other computer music environments (e.g., ChucK, Max/MSP, PD, CSOUND, SuperCollider, etc.), etc.). cheers, Mario

FLOSS manual new paragraphs

Hi, as I mentioned few weeks ago I started updating the ChucK FLOSS manual (ChucK_FLOSS <https://omnibook.pro/chuck>). today I also added a new paragraph (Synthesis Basics - Part I <https://omnibook.pro/chuck/_full/#synthesis-basics-part-i>). the idea is to expand the tutorial chapter offering a gentle introduction to ChucK, that covers several aspects. it would be great if you guys could have a look at it, and give me some feedback. I apologize in advance for my bad English. of course this is a FLOSS manual, so please feel free to contribute :) cheers, Mario
