Yo All....I'm trying to download and study some of the best music out there which features granular synthesis. I haven't heard much yet beyond Iannis Xenakis, but I'd love to know what your favorites are. Perhaps it would be worthwhile putting up a torrent of the same. If possible, kindly provide links to mp3 files or any other type of free downloads. Chunity (ChucK for Unity): Release!

Dear all, Hello! I'm happy to announce the initial official release of Chunity (ChucK for Unity)! http://chuck.stanford.edu/chunity/ http://u3d.as/1bvM Chunity is the integration of ChucK in Unity. (For those of you not familiar with the Unity game engine, Chunity gives you the ability to do realtime sound + music generation natively in Unity, tightly coupled to interactions with graphical objects.) You can use most (possibly all?) ChucK features, run new ChucK code on-the-fly at any time, and communicate between Unity and ChucK using "global" (new keyword!) ints, floats, strings, Events, and 1D int and float arrays. (More types to come!) You can even run multiple VMs that share the same strong timing! Shreds fade out

Hi all! I was wondering if there is a way to smoothly fade out a shred. Example: from command line you add a shred with chuck + shred.ck and remove it with chuck - 1. But when you remove the shred or replace it gets cut off instantly. I am sure there is a way to dinamically scale the gain from 1 to 0 smoothly before remove the shred, but I do not have a clue on how to go about it... Thanks! what does chuck —probe print out? Maybe you’re connecting to the wrong dac?? For reference, here’s an invocation script I used last time I did a multichannel performance: chuck -c8 -bufsize2048 -in2 --dac1 --adc0 INIT.ck That would have been an older version of chuck, but it worked then. Command line multichannel weirdness (multiple versions!)

Hi folks, Been a while, hope everyone is safe. I'm experiencing something very strange and feel I must be doing something wrong. (MacOS 10.14.6) Running chuck on command line like this: $ chuck --dac7 --out7 --channels4 --srate48000 --verbose --loop Then I run this file to test outputs: SinOsc s0 => dac.chan(0); SinOsc s1 => dac.chan(1); SinOsc s2 => dac.chan(2); SinOsc s3 => dac.chan(3); 1::second => now; Yields this error: [chuck](VM): NullPointerException: (UGen link) on line[3] in shred[id=1: speaker_tester.ck] Note: "line[3]"... it only thinks there are two dac channels. Indeed, I can only get sound out of dac.chan(0) and dac.chan(1). I get the same behavior in chuck versions 1.4.0.1, 1.4.0.0, & 1.3.6.0 I get the same behavior in different sound cards with 4+ channels out. BUT... the code works with 4 channels in miniAudicle! Hi, I second what Michael said, the streaming was really cool and interesting! About the new features and "libchuck", I am more than happy to help out as much as I can. I am not a C/C++ programmer, but I'm currently studying it. Recently I have done few little things in ChucK (mainly Chugins and easy bug fixes documented on github) and am getting more and more familiar with ChucK's source code, that is always useful. I suppose I could be of some help in some way. What I can do for sure though, is support with testing, mainly on Linux but also MacOS and Windows. Also, about the github repo, it seems like there are still old issues open even if they have been fixed. In case it can be useful I'd be happy to double check them so that we can then maybe close the cases. Hey, thanks for the information. I'm currently learning DSP and the JUCE framework, so it sounds like I'd be able to incorporate ChucK there as well with the chuck.cpp file. Are there tutorials for that specifically? Or is it roughly the same as the Chunity implementation and I should be able to figure it out by looking at that? looking for interview participant(s) for PhD thesis - questions on extending ChucK

Hello all - I am writing my phd thesis (at NYU) on a comparative study of musical programming languages and the social structures that surround them. I am particularly interested right now in user community development. I am looking to interview someone who has experience making contributions to ChucK through writing and contributing classes, ugens or extensions of library functions. If you are interested, I’d like to hear about your experience in terms of the step-by-step process, from programming, test case reviewing, squashing (if that term applies), communications, etc. It would be preferred if you’ve gone through this process with ChucK start to front. We can do the interview one-on-one remotely (around 30-40 minutes); email communications would be fine, too, if more comfortable. I will ask you to sign a consent form where you can specify if you would like to be identified in the context of the thesis or in further publications.
