So I went into the source,stubborn piano player that I am, determined to get my logitech wireless keyboard to work with chuck. I am way out of my paygrade here. BUT I found some success,I just don't know WHY. In core/util_hid.cpp.. If I modify lines 7648 - 7661 disabling **if** with =1024 in two places if( ioctl( fd, EVIOCGBIT( EV_REL, sizeof( relcaps ) ), relcaps ) != -1 ) { for( int i = 0; i < sizeof( relcaps ); i++ ) if( relcaps[i]=1024 ) return HID_KB_CONFIG_INVALID; } if( ioctl( fd, EVIOCGBIT( EV_ABS, sizeof( abscaps ) ), abscaps ) != -1 ) { for( int i = 0; i < sizeof( abscaps ); i++ ) if( abscaps[i]=1024 ) return HID_KB_CONFIG_INVALID; } it works!! I dont know what the relcaps and abscaps checks are for. But they fail on logi wireless keyboards for some reason. But I really wanted to have a living room full of people and wireless keyboards for the holidays to make music together.

I spent some time in the chuck source trying to determine what Chuck is imbibing to think things like "HDA Intel PCH Line Out" and "PC Speaker" are keyboard devices but not my wireless keyboard. It does see my wireless mouse... on the same dongle! I am on devuan but I had a friend try it on debian and got similar results. I played around changing the value of CK_HID_DIR in util_hid.c. This has been the case since at least chuck-1.4.1.0. Any suggestions welcome. Just in case any one is interested.. I am using chuck as a midi performer. I compose in lilypond, and convert the midifile to csv and have chuck read that and send midi commands to fluidsynth etc. Its also listening and responding to OSC and MIDI messages. I play along on the piano. Chuck is my customized backup band! (i can share if any one is interested) The HID keyboard is for experimenting with real time control of things like the mix while I am playing. I'll assign keys to conductor commands as well. So I will be playing the piano keyboard and the computer keyboard at the same time.

granular music recommendations?

Yo All....I'm trying to download and study some of the best music out there which features granular synthesis. I haven't heard much yet beyond Iannis Xenakis, but I'd love to know what your favorites are. Perhaps it would be worthwhile putting up a torrent of the same. If possible, kindly provide links to mp3 files or any other type of free downloads. hello chuckians chuck does not seem to be able to see wireless keyboards on linux. Any suggestions ? Most of my computers do not have wired keyboards. New audio programming environment released

Dear ChucK users, I just released my own new audio programming environment. It draws some inspiration from ChucK, but really throws a lot of well-established concepts in the world of real-time audio programming out of the window: first and foremost the patch graph and the audio/control-rate dualism. All number crunching is in a Lua, so a dynamic scripting language. It's made possible by LuaJIT, ie. JIT compilation. Hard to explain really, without a lot of prose. Documentation is still lacking. My master's thesis about this project will be released soon as well, but it will be in Russian. Anyway, I think this little project is at least a fun experiment. Whether it will really change anything in the world of audio programming is questionable. chuck and HID devices

Hello chuckians, I'd like to experiment using a HID device (wireless logitech keyboard) to send midi CC events,OSC etc. But Chuck does not see my keyboard. chuck --probe reports all sorts devices as keyboards like headphones and mics but no logitech keyboard. The strange thing is that the mouse works and on a keyboard with a trackpad but I cannot open the keyboard on the same device.
