Is this a known bug?  The user is running Windows XP.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

This sounds like the issue of the miniaudicle process not quitting properly. That's indeed a known issue. The one solution is to use the task manager to quit it the hard way. There will be less trouble with this if the mini is only quit once the sound is silent.
