when i try to add any shred it tells me ugen's of type DAC have no input-cannot => from another ugen.

Could it be that you are on Linux and that while you try this there is a web-browser with flash in it running? Flash tends to try to claim the whole soundcard in a way that leaves no space for ChucK.

If so; close all web-browsers and other things that can make sound, re-start the mini, got to the options screen, select your soundcard and start the VM.

If that's not it it's some other soundcard issue.
