In 1.2.1.2 the devs add the note, "dac output no longer halved!",
which would explain why you could output -2.0 to 2.0 before. It
shouldn't still work in 1.2.1.2 and above, though--was this on an
older build?

I assumed it was some kind of bug correction - I have been able to output values between -2.0 and 2.0 in earlier versions of ChucK without getting distortion, which I think was a bug.
So, I think the output volume from ChucK has increased generally.
Yes, the volume seems increased. I'm not sire what should be correct, though.
