Tomasz;
I like the idea of providing some examples of ways that LiSa can be used.

There are already quite a few in /examples/special.

For instance, I was wondering about the potential (and suitablility) of the LiSa UGen as a way of recording and playing back automation data (for driving params of other UGens), rather than for audio. Have any of you used it in that way?

That does make perfect sense to me, especially if there is some specific curve you want to use regularly that might be computationally expensive to generate; you should be able to calculate it once, store it in a LiSa, the re-use it many times.

Don't underestimate the combination of Envelope and the various Gen UGens though. I think that's more powerful for this application in the general case.
