There is a picture of it here: http://www.harmony-central.com/Events/WNAMM96/Roland/PMA-5.html It looks one has to use a pen - Apple avoided PDAs until they could get rid of it. And the iPhone screen is multi-touch and larger. And computers are much more powerful. So I felt that perhaps ChucK could do it what is shown there. Hans

You can use the PMA with your fingers... just not very well :-).

Of course. I just wanted to offset the marketing a bit. There is certainly exciting stuff going on on the iPhone as well; SMULE came up with interesting ideas, I'd like to see what Nick Collins's "TOPLAp" app is like if/when it would come through the system. Sadly Apple paid mr Go and Roland is so far not paying me to point out you could do nearly the same on a device well over a decade old at a fraction of the price. Maybe I'm just a bit jealous. kas.

That is a problem with all touch screens, I suspect: lack of physical sensory feedback to the fingers. This is one reason for why keyboard touch screens haven't caught on in the past.

I think others try to do similar products, but it is hard to match.

So that should be able to do the stuff in the videos.
Sadly Apple paid mr Go and Roland is so far not paying me ...
It is a bit pricey, especially when tied to mobile phone fees. The device itself now, in its basic model, is not so pricey.

The new thing is the flexibility of the device, but I think they mentioned a bit that the software was just new implementations of older things. Hans

TOPLap has already been in the AppStore for at least 2 weeks. And do not forget RjDj. The beauty of RjDj is that it is essentially a pd interpreter so anyone with some pd skills can schlep patches onto the iPhone/iTouch. Cheers ./MiS

There is a demo here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPrIPcyemdM The pronunciation is evidently "Archie Dee-chay" :-). Hans
