Hi again Are there any plans to include stuff like reading/writing text to files, saving/loading objects (ala tickle in python), navigating paths, getting directory contents and regular string operations like replacement, search? Actually, I'm thinking that if I need alot of stuff like this, maybe I should better make myself a python wrapper... OTOH it would be nice to have everything in pure chuck. Actually that's one of the reasons I tried out chuck in the first place (comming from years of csounding); that it's more like "a real" language... Any thoughts? -- peace, love & harmony Atte http://www.atte.dk | quintet: http://www.anagrammer.dk | compositions: http://www.atte.dk/compositions

Yes, all of this is on the wish-list. The wish-list is actually on the wiki and so you can see it for yourself. This is nice since it avoids requests getting repeated and it also enables you to dream and fantasise about all the wonderfull things you'll be able to do in a few months :-). Any thoughts? I think it would be great. I've been into generating paterns and sequencing based on HID input. Right now this is loads of fun and it forces you to live in the moment since after quitting chuck all those arrays will be gone but it would be nice to be able to store arrays of paterns as well as parameter values. clearly coding is expressive in itself and the code is easy to save and return to but manually setting parameters still has a lot of use and is often comparatively intuitive. Being able to store sets of such parameters to a file to later return to would be very valuable. Right now we could "cheat" and export such values over MIDI or OSC to be recorded in some external aplication but that doesn't sound like so much fun to me. Kas.

A bit messy, or...:-) And, no, I didn't find all I mentioned there. Would it make sense to add or should the list be cleaned up a bit first?

I agree. I had a blast with hid/joy-fm.ck yesterday, and I'm gonna modify this to fit into my setup for sure + I have 1.000.000 ideas what can be done with a game controller. It becomes clearer to me every day that I'm much more into hardware controllers than live-coding. -- peace, love & harmony Atte http://www.atte.dk | quintet: http://www.anagrammer.dk | compositions: http://www.atte.dk/compositions

I have a suspispicion those pages are mainly made for and by the developers and make sense to them...

I'm very interested in both but right now in comparing them it's quite clear to me I didn't practice with livecoding since the days of the Nintendo Nes...*cough* Maybe this is the future? http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/psx2hard/keybpad.htm Cheers! Kas.
