Hi folks, Here is the description of the ChucK Show: The ChucK Show producer: Inventor (Les Hall) ChucK is a freeware music programming language from Princeton University. Those who program in ChucK, called ChucKists, share their code freely with each other under the GNU General Public License. Everyone enjoys each other's programs and all are free to copy and modify code with reckless abandon. The ChucK Show features programs written by Inventor, kijjaz, Kassen, wppk, Frostburn, Slinky, and others. You can learn about ChucK by visiting the ChucK forum on www.electro-music.com, where we all congregate to share code, help each other, and joke around a lot. Some ChucK links: http://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/ http://electro-music.com/forum/forum-140.html http://wiki.cs.princeton.edu/index.php/ChucK http://www.freedomodds.com/music/ Please post all ChucK Show submissions to the chucK forum, thanks. To hear the ChucK show, just click on over to www.electro-music.com and select "Radio". The show will be 7pm to 9pm EST, which is 23:00 - 1:00 GMT, or 4pm to 6pm left coast time. And we need more ChucK code! Please post code submissions to the ChucK forum, thanks! Les

Here is the description of the ChucK Show:
I tuned in ten minutes late to last weeks show and knew I had the right station as I was greeted by a lot of patterned, guitar-like noise. I happen to like improvised radio, I think there is already way more than enough "safe" and formulaic radio around and Les certainly brought the goods. Les doesn't play music directly, he plays bits of code that generate sound. One piece (by Kijjaz) he played a few times to demonstrate how it sounded different every time. One of the things that made this especially enjoyable to me was that it was quite clear that it was Les's first show; his setup was still in a rather experimental state, requiring that plugs be moved to switch from music to voice and back. There were odd noises, there were slight mistakes but Les took them all in his stride and turned them into a part of his show. When his friend started commenting from the background (apparently she was less into repetitive noises than some of us are) he incorporated that as well, but without losing the focus on presenting interesting music and sonic techniques. Overall it had a very homely feel (in a good way) I'm certain this show isn't going to be everybody's favourite though it made me quite happy, I experienced Les's enthusiasm as quite contagious. Maybe with a little review (like this) people will be able to tell whether this is something they'd like. Yours, Kas. P.S. I noticed Les missed to the chance to simply and conveniently link directly to the stream; http://radio.electro-music.com:8050/listen.pls
I had a great time listening to the show, for the part of it I caught!
I came in somewhere near the middle of it and had to bail out early
because of some feline drama, which I won't get into here.
I can't wait for more!

Hi Everyone, I will be running a ChucK workshop at EMMEDIA in Calgary, AB, Canada on May 2. I would love to see some ChucKers there to help all the newbies discover misplaced semi-colons. It will be a fun, low-key day with a big projector. I will also be running a workshop on Controllerism April 11-12 at the same location if anyone is interested in techniques for mapping hardware to software. This workshop will be personalized to the participants and may include Max/MSP, Pure Data, Processing or ChucK, depending on who registers and what toys they bring. I hope to see some familiar screen names there. http://emmedia.ca/ --art _________________________________________________________________ Experience all of the new features, and Reconnect with your life. http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9650730
