I have decided to create a ChucK-based distributed virtual audio world. In this world we will have places which are physically located on each other's computers and virtually located throughout cyberspace. The first place in this world will be on my Mac mini. I have received permission to use five of the public streaming ports on radio.electro-music.com for this world temporarily. In the event that it grows, we will address the issue of expansion with electro-music server resources, however this world will not be restricted in any way other than morally, ethically, and legally as appropriate. This means that if you have streaming resources you may use them as well. The focal point for discussion of this virtual audio world will be a thread that I just started on the ChucK forum of electro-music.com. I had one guest, which was nice for personal friendship reasons, and one appearance on an electro-music radio show, but that was it. What makes the virtual audio world (VAW) possible is not really ChucK, though chuckchat was a key component, but rather soundflower which performs audio routing on the Mac. Also there is Jack for Linux and Mac, and various custom solutions for the PC. If you or anyone else would like to participate in the VAW, please let me know and I will gladly set it up again. We can stream into and out of the VAW, chuckchat in it, do netlooping, and also Skype into it (but not out of it except for the mic only). It's basically a tangled web of audio applications that form a beautiful disaster of voice and music, which is really quite entertaining. Oh and yes, it's sort of like a MUD with audio instead of text. So stop by the chatroom or send me an email and I'll krank up the VAW again. Hear you later bro! Les

To Jayren and anyone interested in this concept: We jammed twice today for a total of four hours in this setup. You need to be able to stream or to have Skype or chuckchat15.ck. You can stream by visiting the chatroom, which you have in the past, and looking at the tutorial on the forum. You already have chuckchat and you probably have or else can easily get Skype. I will be setting up this audio environment on an ad-hock basis, so catch me by email, or chatroom and i'll set up for another go. Les
