Problem running IXP1200 VERA apps

Hi, Thanks to some help from this group, I managed to build the IXP1200 applications for Vera. I also built and ran the Hello World test program. Now I have a problem running the IPmm and PktGen applications. When I invoke 'sgo ipmm.srec', the output on the board's serial port stops abruptly. Shruti, Why is the thread swapped out? That is, what signal is it waiting on? That will be the first clue to understand what's going on! To find out, you need to query the CTX_X_WAKEUP_EVENTS and CTX_X_SIG_EVENTS (X = thread number) family of CSRs. And the easiest way to do that if you've got the Developer's Workbench hooked up to the hardware, then you can simply open up the "Thread Status" windown in debug mode. If not, you'll have to write some StrongARM code to query the StrongARM memory map (see Appendix C of the IXP1200 PRM - Programmer's Reference Manual) or use your favorite StrongARM debugger to do this. If I had to guess, the thread is probably swapped out waiting for a packet indicator. Perhaps you haven't setup the global CSRs of the IXP1200 to match the media buses on your hardware? What code are you running on the StrongARM? It might be easiest to simply load the precompiled VxWorks image in the IXA SDK v2.01 first to get the hang to using the hardware before you try other configurations (ie. like the Linux code out there or something homegrown!). Hi I am using the IXP1200 Eval platform to run a routing and forwarding program. One of the threads simply forward packets and the other sends out generated packets. When I run the code on the hardware, I notice that the first thread gets swapped out and does not run. I also ran the l3fwd_16_RFC1812 example code on the hardware and noticed that the thread is swapped out in that too. The programs run great when I use the simulator and I am not able to find out what is different on the hardware. Could somebody help me out here? Thanks in advance. Shruti

Hi,all, Thanks a lot! The board I am using is IXP12EB, and the Revision I read from PCI_REV_CLASS register is C0. But the 2.4.18 kernel failed when it came to the last step (init task). After I replace the line "...getty..." with the "...../bin/bash....." in the /etc/inittab, it is OK. I think that something goes wrong with the "getty" which is a symbol link to "/sbin/tinylogin". Joel, Thanks a lot. It works perfect for me, thank you so much for you so detail instructions. After run the L3forearder example, I could ping each ports of the ENP2505 card from my PC. Attached file(ixsys_count_8_1.config) is a configuration file for the simple counting application from the SDK CDs. Would you like to help me to have a look at it? Compared ixsys_count_8_1.config with ixsys.config-l3fwdr, looks like that they are pretty much same in terms of format. Why I can ping ports after running ./ixstart ixsys.config-l3fwdr; but I cannot ping after running ./ixstart ixsys_8_1.config? what I mean, the total number of packet doesn't increase even though I pinged the right port. Thanks so much for your time and your help. Really appreciate it. P.S.
