RE: [ixp1200] SOS, a question about connection and output!

Hi, Austen, Your information is really helpful, but I think the MAC of the port is set by ixconfig, so it shouldn't cause problem. Cheers! I had tried to connect PCs and ixp1200 ports in standard way: via a hub / switch, but it failed to work. When I tried direct connection through crossover
So, hub != switch. Let me explain: I dont know anything about the Intel app but it could be that youre trying to send packets to the wrong eth addr---if you dont set one up on the IXPs (I have an app that will do that, bvmac, check out www.cercs.gatech.edu/projects/asan/software.html) AND send a packet (or by some means let the switch know about your eth addr) then the switch will probably just drop the packet. However, if youre using a hub, it probably wont drop it and youve probably got some other problem... Austen McDonald austen@cc.gatech.edu
