Question on enp-2505
Hello, Currently, my problem when trying to boot linux is: After the board entered cygmon, I typed "go" command, then the minicom screen show below information: ****************** cygmon>go cygmon_handle_exception()monitor_loop return=0 Returned from breakpoint Waiting for host based download Press space bar to abort host download mode.... .. .. .. Press space bar to abort host download mode.... ******************** Then I open another terminal and entered the directory of /opt/ixasdk/enp-2505/bin. I run the script .create_environment.rc and boot_bv. The screen of boot_bv show: ********************* eht1: unknow interface: No such device rmmod: module pciDgNet is not loaded rmmod: module pciDg is not loaded Booting board before = 0x7e6c6700 ********************* Then the screen of minicom show below information: ******************** Booting linux.... Hit breakpointDisassembling 0xc4e9.8944 mrcge 13, 4, r9, cr3, cr14, {4} Waiting for host based download Press space bar to abort host download mode... Press space bar to abort host download mode... ..
According to the ixaedu/ixasdk document you can run following command in
Linux to start the Linux system on board
/opt/ixasdk/enp-2505/bootixp/bootixp
I don't need to run command under the cygwon prompt.
You can follow the sdk manual though it is a little confusing.

Make sure the modules in boot_bv can be loaded in your system.
I encountered some problems on dell gx260, the modules do not work on it.
If the modules can be loaded, you can check the config files, e.g. if you
have multiple
ethernet interface, you should change the eth value

Hi, Yong Liu, I am confused whether the linux kernel has been located in enp2505 board before it goes out of the factory, or we still need to download the kernel into board using boot_bv script? after I run the boot_bv, I can got below information: ------------------------------------- [root@cordelia bin]# ./boot_bv eth1: unknow interface: No such device rmmod: module pciDgNet is not loaded rmmod: module pciDg is not loaded Booting board before = 0x6e4c6704 [root@cordelia bin]# ------------------------------------- I thought the board is booting. But I don't know whether it is trying to download or just trying to booting the kernel which has already been put in the board before going out of factory. But, no matter either way, after that, the board stoped there and no any actions. best, feng On Mon, 26 May 2003, Yong Liu wrote:

Hi, Yong Liu, I am confused whether the linux kernel has been located in enp2505 board before it goes out of the factory, or we still need to download the kernel into board using boot_bv script?
after I run the boot_bv, I can got below information:
Hello, Yong Liu, I don't understand what you said, " if the modules can be loaded, you can check the config files, eg. if you have multiple ethernet interface, you should change the eth value". I think I have loaded modules. And what I should I check? I tried to do this way. I check the network configuation. It said I still got only one ethnet in my system, which is eth0. This is my network card. But there is no other new ethernet interface. Do you think if I run the boot_bv, the system should increase some new ethernet interface as well? best, feng On Mon, 26 May 2003, Yong Liu wrote:

Hi, I'm wondering what this means? We have one gx260 that works, however we have several other gx260 that don't. The problems are, as you say, with the bv module. Now, how can it be that it works on one machine, but not on any others? Any details about this?

Ok, mistery solved. Other than the graphics card, the only difference between the working-GX260s and the nonworking ones was that the latter had 2 memory modules on the motherboard. After we removed one of them, bv.o would automagically stop crashing! Before that, it would die on ioremap(), so we guess that it wasn't very happy with memory interleaving or something. Now, we finally have machines that work (and quite an amount of spare RAM). Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem. -- Matija Puzar Department of Informatics, University of Oslo Postbox 1080 Blindern, N-0316 Oslo tel: +47 22 85 27 87, fax: +47 22 85 24 01
