Abstract: How can you determine when a COVID-19 patient needs to be intubated? Mechanical ventilation is a procedure taken for patients who are critically ill and are unable to maintain an adequate blood oxygen level with other supportive oxygen devices. However, there is limited evidence to guide physicians on optimal timing for this procedure. This paper takes a closer look at the trajectories of patients who are ventilated and attempts to draw insights on the ideal timing for mechanical ventilation.
