[chuck-users] cant seem to install on ubuntu 6.06

hi
i am pretty new to using make but i can't seem to get this to install.
here is what i do get:

linx at linx:/usr/bin/chuck/src$ make linux-jack
make -f makefile.jack
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/bin/chuck/src'
gcc -D__LINUX_JACK__ -O3 -c -D__CK_SNDFILE_NATIVE__ chuck_absyn.cpp
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec 'cc1plus': No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [chuck_absyn.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/bin/chuck/src'
make: [linux-jack] Error 2 (ignored)
linx at linx:/usr/bin/chuck/src$


any help would be appreciated i am really interested in trying out ChucK...
