Dr. Wolfgang Maass is visiting the psychology department week (May 10)
from Graz University of Technology, and he will be giving a research
talk in the weekly PDP meeting. Details below:

Title: Does the Brain Play Dice ?

Wolfgang Maass, Graz University of Technology, Austria

http://www.igi.tugraz.at/maass/

Abstract:

I will examine the question how realistic models for networks of
spiking neurons in the brain can encode knowledge in the form of
probability distributions, how they can learn these distributions, and
how they can carry out probabilistic inference for such internally
stored distributions, and merge in this way knowledge from longterm
memory with information from new spike inputs.

For those of you interested, please join us on Friday, May 10 at 10,30
a.m., in Green Hall 3-N-4.
