Dear ml-staters,

given that this is the first post of 2013, I wish everyone a happy new year.
This post is actually not about a talk on campus but about a new feature of AISTATS 2013 that may be of interest to graduate students.
Here is the formal announcement:

AISTATS*2013
April 29–May 1, 2013, DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort, Scottsdale, AZ.
Co-located with the International Conference on Learning Representations

Dissertation Poster Session -- Call for Abstracts
AISTATS 2013 invites submissions of abstracts for a special “Dissertation Poster Session”. This is an opportunity for soon to defend (or recently defended) PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers to present their work and interact with the interdisciplinary AISTATS gathering of researchers at the intersection of computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, and related areas.
Eligibility: Graduate Students who have just defended, or are planning to defend through Summer 2013, and Postdoctoral Researchers.
Abstracts are limited to one page and should be submitted via email tocarlos.carvalho at mccombs.utexas.edu<mailto:carlos.carvalho at mccombs.utexas.edu>. The deadline for submissions is Feb 1st 2013.

For more information about the conference, please visit:

Thanks,
Carlos and Pradeep.
