Hi everyone,

Welcome to a new semester of weekly CSML reading group meetings. Our *first
meeting* of the year will take place from *12 to 1:30pm* on *Oct 1st *. I
hope you can join us! Please forward this to anyone with an interest in cs,
stats or ml.

We started the group last year with the hope of bringing together people
from varied areas of statistics and machine learning to discuss relevant
literature. There are few changes from last year, both in focus and

* We will have lunch covered.

* Meetings will take place every week, from *12 to 1:30 pm*. We will send
an update providing location information shortly.

* The focus this year is on *classical papers in statistics and machine
learning*. We will try to address in our discussions both the theoretical
aspects and their implication on possible applications.

* The *reading materials* can be found here
We will periodically update these on our *blog* which can be found at
https://blogs.princeton.edu/csml/. Check it out for summaries of
discussions from last semester!

* (*Important*) We are looking for *presenters *and *scribes* to *sign up*.
Presenters will be responsible for giving an overview of the paper and lead
the discussion. The scribe will be responsible with taking notes for our
blog. You can (and should) sign up for any of these roles at
