It seems that in this case vips configure fails to add -lstdc++ to the
library line.

I've fixed this in vips SVN. The best solution for PARSEC seems to me
to be to add

  --without-cimg

to the configure line. This stops vips compiling in the optional C++
CImg library and therefore fixes the link problems.
