[parsec-users] facesim run arguments

That's about it. You should have a look at the PARSEC tutorial which you can
download from the PARSEC website. It explains these things in more detail.

Concerning the differences between the simsmall, simmedium and simlarge
inputs for facesim - there are none, they are exactly the same. That is only
the case for facesim because the face mesh that is used by facesim and
determines the amount of work is challenging to scale down due to
underresolution and numerical stability issues. That is the reason why de
facto only offer one simulation input size for facesim.

Best,

Chris

So you mean I have to untar simlarge and then run facesim. It will
automatically find the dataset. Then I delete that folder and untar simsmall
and run facesim again. Am I right?

What about md5sum that shows simlarge and simsmall are identical?

If you want to run facesim with simlarge, just keep only simlarge input file
(by untaring it) in one directory and run the command-line from that
directory, of course you should keep facesim executable in that directory
(or use full path of facesim executable). Likewise, you can run facesim with
all the input files. I think that this is the simplest way. There may be
better ways.

I didn't understand. I should ask my question in this way:

1- What is the command to run facesim with simlarge?

2- What is the command to run facesim with simsmall?

You can run by keeping all the input files in one directory. Christian wrote
facesim such a way that the above command-line will pickup what it needs.
:-) Thanks, Christian.

md5sum shows they are the same.

mahmood at localhost:apps$ md5sum facesim/input_simlarge.tar
bb79105b6e4e7524d0233db00189df45 facesim/input_simlarge.tar

mahmood at localhost:apps$ md5sum facesim/input_simsmall.tar
bb79105b6e4e7524d0233db00189df45 facesim/input_simsmall.tar

Also, if we suppose they are different I still wonder how the data set is
passed to the bin file. if

run_args="-timing -threads ${NTHREADS}"

then I should run "./facesim -timing -threads 2". So how should I pass the
data set?

The input file is different.

hi,

For facesim, there is no difference between simlarge, simmedium and
simsmall.

run_args="-timing -threads ${NTHREADS}"

Any suggestion? thanks,
