Hi Lulu,

There must be some issue on the system which you use to profile canneal. I've used oprofile myself with all PARSEC workloads and had no issue. I don't know what might be wrong, canneal does not fork any processes (other than thread creation).

Best,
Chris

Betreff: [parsec-users] profile parsec with oprofile

Hi,

I profile parsec with the following script:

############ script start ##############
opcontrol --reset

opcontrol --setup --event=CPU_CLK_UNHALTED:6000::0:1

opcontrol --start

../parsec-2.1/pkgs/kernels/canneal/inst/amd64-linux,gcc/bin/canneal 1
15000 2000 ../parsec-2.1/pkgs/kernels/canneal/inputs/400000.nets 128

opcontrol --dump && opcontrol --stop

opreport -l ../parsec-2.1/pkgs/kernels/canneal/inst/amd64-linux,gcc/bin/canneal
> canneal_simlarge_1t_CPU_CLK_UNHALTED.txt

opcontrol --save = canneal_simlarge_1t_CPU_CLK_UNHALTED

########### script end #################

But output opreport error :

Already displaying results for parameter tid with valuse:
tid:7249,tid:7251,
which conficts with parameter cpu.
Suggestion: specify tid: or --merge tid.

It seems canneal was run 2 times with tid 7249 and 7251, I think it's
process ID of canneal.

Is canneal forked when running?

Thanks.
