*CIKM 2016: Call for Full and Short Papers** - Research Track*

*Theme: Frontiers and Applications of Big Data Science*

*Conference Website*: http://www.cikm2016.org/

*Call for Research Papers*

The 25th ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge
Management (CIKM 2016) will be held from Oct 24 – 28, 2016 in Indianapolis,
USA.CIKM is a top-tier ACM conference in the areas of information
retrieval, knowledge management, and databases. Since 1992, it has
successfully brought together leading researchers and practitioners from
the three communities. The purpose of the conference is to identify
challenging problems facing the development of innovative knowledge and
information systems, and to shape future research directions through the
publication of high quality, applied and theoretical research findings.
In CIKM 2016, we will continue the tradition of promoting collaboration
among multiple areas. We encourage submissions of high quality full- and
short- research papers on all topics in the general areas of databases,
information retrieval, and knowledge management. This year we are
highlighting the advances in frontiers and applications of big data
science. Lying at the intersection of databases, information retrieval and
knowledge management, CIKM is uniquely placed to deliver fresh perspectives
on big data science.

*Topics of Interest*

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

   - Data and information acquisition and preprocessing (e.g., data
   crawling, data quality, data privacy)
   - Data and information modelling, storage, compression and indexing
   - Data understanding (e.g., natural language processing, speech
   recognition, computer vision)
   - Data integration and aggregation (e.g., semantic processing, data
provenance, data warehousing, privacy and security)
   - Unstructured data management (e.g., search engines, retrieval models,
   query processing, personalization, recommender systems)
   - Data analysis (e.g., OLAP, data mining, machine learning,
   visualization, scalable analysis algorithms)
   - Big data infrastructure (e.g., cloud computing, data intensive
computing, database systems, search engine systems)
   - Crowd sourcing and exploitation of online resources
   - Special data processing (e.g., multilingual text data, stream data,
spatiotemporal data, multimedia data, scientific data, social media data)
   - Big data user interfaces (e.g., user behavior analysis, visualization,
user interface design, personalization, interactive analysis, mobile
   - Big data applications (e.g., biomedical and health informatics,
security, business intelligence, computational social science, data-enabled
   discovery, social media)

*Paper Submissions*

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished full-length (10 page)
and short (4 page) research papers that are not previously published,
accepted to be published, or being considered for publication in any other
forum. Full-length papers should satisfy the standard requirements of
top-tier international research conferences. Short papers should describe
interesting ongoing work, new discoveries and insights, or summaries of
significant projects, and be material that is suited to poster presentation
rather than oral presentation.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically, in PDF format and formatted
using the ACM camera-ready templates
<http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates>. Full papers
cannot exceed 10 pages in length and short papers cannot exceed 4 pages in
length. Papers should be submitted through the CIKM 2016 online submission
system <https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cikm2016>.

CIKM 2016 full and short paper review will be *double-blind, and
submissions must be properly anonymized. Lack of anonymization may result
in rejection without review. The Program Committee of CIKM 2016 will review
both the full-length papers and short papers submitted into the conference.
Submissions will receive an “accept” or “reject” decision based on the
version that was submitted, and rejected full-length papers will not be
considered as short papers for poster presentation*.

At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference
prior to the listed Final Version date, and is expected to attend the
conference and present the work as scheduled in the conference program.
Short paper presentations will be via a poster session, and authors will be
expected to prepare and present a poster in the usual manner. Work that is
not presented at the conference by one or more of its authors may be
removed from the ACM digital library and may be removed from the final
version of the proceedings.

*Important Dates*

*Full and Short Paper Abstract Submission Deadline: *May 9, 2016

*Full Paper and Short Paper Submission Deadline: *May 16, 2016
