FUtil Host for Linux

Does anyone know if the host side of the ixp1200eb flash utility
(FUtil HOST) has been ported to Linux?

If not, I am willing to do it.  Can someone at Intel provide
details of the protocol used between the host and the ixp1200eb?
The source code for Windows is in BoardSupport/FlashUtil/host
and shows that the author is "jdg" / "Jdguilfo".  I'd prefer
to work with a spec (even in the form of notes) about the
protocol rather than the source code marked Intel proprietary.
