Thanks PRC. I'm sure that's it but I'm still missing something. So I'm going to ramble on here, subjecting the list to my failures. - I did have Blackhole installed; I uninstalled it and rebooted but still no dice. I'm trying: chuck --adc0 --in1 pitch-track.ck or chuck --adc:0 --in:1 --srate:48000 pitch-track.ck or to be more explicit... chuck --adc:0 --in:1 --dac:0 --out:2 --srate:48000 pitch-track.ck (both should work right? i.e. colon or no-colon) and just get a wall of: 0.000000 :(float) 0.000000 :(float) 0.000000 :(float) 0.000000 :(float) from Terminal, vs. the expected: 46.875000 :(float) 93.750000 :(float) 46.875000 :(float) 93.750000 :(float) 93.750000 :(float) plus sweet sine-waves in MiniAudicle. Interestingly enough, MiniAudicle only shows my output devices under Device Browser > Audio Interfaces (i.e. MacBook Pro Speakers here). Can't remember if it always only showed output and not input?

Do a —probe to see how many adcs (and dacs) are there. Then try command line forcing to that adc. I find that if I’ve recently airplayed, or forget I have soundsource enabled, or sound flower, or some other real/virtual adc/dac, sometimes those are sticky in system audio and ChucK defaults to that instead of what you want. adc not recognized in terminal

TLDR: I'm seeing a strange behavior with adc not working in Terminal. OS X 10.14.5 Mojave 2019 MBPro chuck 1.4.0.0 numchucks Simple adc patches not working at all when run from Terminal. No error but no audio either. Same patches work in MiniAudicle (yay Spencer). Both built-in laptop mic or external interface give no sound. I can't find existing bugs for this. Anyone else see similar behaviors? smoothing and scaling RMS data

Hello, I'm wanting to capture the amplitude envelope from a live source and generate feedback loops... I'm starting by obtaining RMS values, as per the examples on the home site: https://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/doc/examples/analysis/features/rms.ck First, does anyone have a preferred way of filtering the data that effectively captures transients and smoothes the decay? Second, is there a way to scale the range of this smoothed data - that is, map it onto a defined range to use as a parametric control for another UGen? While I'm at it, does ChucK have a filter for DC leak? I'm new to ChucK and am used to work, so I appreciate any help (and patience).

Hi all, I think I know the answer, but I'd like to ask the question anyway since it could trigger interesting discussions. Is it possible to overload operators in ChucK? Clipping using multiple SndBuf files

Hi, I'm just wondering the best way to avoid clipping when using multiple SndBuf files in code? I'm making a composition using machine.add script and there is a lot clipping when the new scripts come in. Is the best thing to add Envelopes in the individual codes? Or is there some better way? .interp doesn’t do what you think it does. It just specifies the type of internal interpolation for smoothing of playback (only applicable for non 1.0 rates). SndBuf .loop just tells it to start over at the beginning when it reaches the end (or end after reaching the beginning): SndBuf s => dac; "special:dope" => s.read; // load homer s.length() => now; // play him second => now; // wait a bit 1 => s.loop; // loop homer now 2*second => now; // for 2 seconds -1 => s.rate; // then play him backward 2*second => now; // for two more If you need to loop a specific piece of a sound in SndBuf, you should either: edit that in a sound editor and save/ it as a new file. Figure out the exact sample points within the wave that should be your start and end loop points. Then use .pos and => now to loop it. You don’t even need .loop mode for that, because it will keep playing as long as the start is within the buffer boundaries. If you want smooth looping without pops at the edges, you could maybe use an ADSR to smooth the beginning and end. Not sure of your application here, but SndBuf is not a flexible sample playback UGen that knows about loops like a SoundFont player would. You script got scrubbed for some reason, but I suspect that you’re shadowing the global somehow locally (if you use the same name as an argument or a local within a function, it masks the global version). SndBuf Passing args to running functions

Hi, I'm in big trouble. I'v been trying for a long time now to change an argument in a running function. As you can see in my script i set a certain central pos ("70000")to buf.pos as a central position in my soundbuffer and i let my function LFOtoPOS circle around it. Once the "spork" instruction has started the process i can't figure out how to addresss the argument "centralpos" to change it on the fly or by another function or parameter. Some help please ... Hi chucklist, Although the Ugen LiSa looks promising, it raises a lot of questions. First puzzling member: .record. Does this create a second buffer? And what’s the difference between .playpos and .valueAt? What’s the use of setting (or recording?) rampDown if this changes after changing the playback rate? Hi, In the flossmanuals i found this exemple of modulation of the freq of a SinOsc. Normally in the while() loop, between the brackets is the condition to keep the loop running. ADSR AttackRate, decayRate, sustainRate

Hi, I was wondering what the function is of AttackRate, decayRate, sustainRate in ADSR. Normally when using an ADSR, attack only uses time. Same for decay and sustain. Also the declaration at the end of de memeber description is not very clear to me: The \e state = ADSR::DONE after the envelope value reaches 0.0 in the ADSR::RELEASE state. LiSa Looper button MIDI

Hi all, I'm trying to use the LiSa looper function in ChucK using a MIDI pad. I've got a handle on using to loop once tapping a midi pad (like using a loop pedal) but I can't figure out how to 'overdub' on the same sample time? I am currently using a lisacontainer in my MID set up.
