mouse up/down controlling signal path

hello again, chuckists - I'd like to alter signal flow in response to input from HID devices. In this small example, i want mouse down to result in reverb, and mouse up to result in dry signal. SinOsc => Pan2.pan?

Hello, I would like to chuck the output of a SinOsc into the pan parameter of a Pan2 ugen. Seems like that should be possible but I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Thanks, michael

Hm, happy diwali greetings from India chuckers! So. Lets say I'm shaping a curve, which is the frequency graph of a sound wave, using pygame, or some kind of GUI. So what I possibly have are two things: 1. a string of coordinates that forms the curve. 2. a parametric equation that represents the curve. What is the easiest way in ChucK, by which I can play/generate this sound in case 1) and 2). See? multichannel audio

hi all, haven't yet found an answer in the archive, but apologies in advance for the newbie question: I have a motu traveler on mac 10.4.10 and would like to use the multichannel capability. When I run the 'n.ck' example script it returns that the device has only 2 channels, and I get a NullPointerException when I try to force the issue by writing to dac.chan(2). Is there a way to help Chuck see the additional channels on my device? thanks!

hi, i wrote a small program that allows file input/output from within chuck via OSC. You find it here: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-21276.html this software can read files only as a whole. so you have to read the whole file before the while loop and store the read values in an array whose element you use inside the while loop. its meant as a workaround until the file input/output UGens arrive in chuck. i compiled it for the mswindows (tested on WinXP/WIN2000) platform but recently it was ported to linux also. adding a chuck class from an external file

Hello, Doing some research on how to add a class that is defined in an external file I came across an email Ge sent explaining this wasn't possible yet: https://lists.cs.princeton.edu/pipermail/chuck-users/2006-March/000440.html ===================================================================== foo.ck --- public class Foo { /* stuff */ } --- bar.ck --- machine.add( "foo.ck" ); Foo foo; // this won't pass the type checker --- running bar.ck first (the intended usage) would result in a type checker error 'unknown class Foo', since foo.ck won't be added until runtime and so 'Foo' is unknown when bar.ck is compiled. ===================================================================== I remember though him also saying that the way to add external functions (functions defined in an external file) was to create a classes that contains them. changing a value with a function

Hi I'm trying to change a value of something (in this case BPF.freq with a function. I'd like to write a function that can be sporked on just aout any value, but I can't figure out how. Below changer() works, but only works on filters freq parameter. changer2() obviously doesn't work. Can something like this be done? Could the parameter for a ugen be passed by reference? zipper noise

Hi, Sometimes I've noticed zipper noise when using Chuck. Specifically if I'm doing some sort of modulation in a loop, I'll get artifacts because I'm instantaneously setting a parameter once every 10ms or so. Ideally changing the time-length of the loop shouldn't really change the sound much (except to make longer latency), but I find that there are drastic differences between using 1::samp, 5::samp, 1::ms, 10::ms, mostly due (I think) to the frequency of these artifacts. Has anyone noticed this? What measures do you take to fix it? I'm wondering if it would be useful to be able to specify ramp times (or some global ramp time) for when you set a parameter. (Of course that would be a bit tricky to implement...) Perhaps each parameter could have a per-sample lowpass on it, but I guess that would greatly increase processing needs. How is this currently handled in Chuck? cheers, Steve

bug in HidMsg?

Hi I think something is not working correct in HidMsg. Running the following code and pressing "5" prints "34" but pressing "s" also prints "34" (this is with a danish keyboard, things might look different with other keyboards, I know).
