broken inheritance ?

hi. I'm facing a weird issue with inheritance. here is a bit of code : http://pastebin.com/rGFx6pus I have a Handler class that defines a listen() method, and several classes inheriting from Handler. Then, when I try to call bpm.listen(orec) on line 10, it says "class BpmHandler has no member listen" - even though it should access the one from the Handler class. Any clue ? And by the way, I was wondering: Handler @ h; new BpmHandler @=> h; this won't work, even though it is legit from a OOP inheritance point of view. is it deliberate, or something on the todo list of the dev team ? cheers tom

Hi there. I am looking for some kind of "random lfo" to change a parameter continuously and randomly. I remember there is a UGen called "LFNoise2" to do that in SuperCollider. How can I do that with ChucK ? thanks tom

good until loop

Would anyone mind sending a good example for loop "until" ? I simply want a shred to stop automatically after a 10 seconds. Here is what I wrote: do{ Std.rand2f(200,50.0) + Math.sin(v*100.0)*20.0 => v2 => f.pfreq; Std.rand2f(5000.0, 60) + Math.sin(v*30.0)*80.0 => f3.pfreq; Std.rand2f(1500, 80.0) + Math.sin(v*200.0)*50.0 => f2.pfreq; std.rand2f(.551,.549)=>buf.rate; .0+(.9*maybe)=>buf.gain; 0=>buf.pos; .1:: T =>now; } until (5::second); thanks so much! -tim

if we use a random seed, f.e. Std.srand(120); will this affect all the random function inside the sketch? and if so, how can we turn it off? thanks

How to get better-sounding instruments?

Got such question: there is a set of instruments included from STK, also there are some reverbs etc., but I cant make them together do very natural sounds; I also don't want to use wav as I can't cange it's params. I do not have natural instruments to play in nor will to do so. Questions are: - Are there some good ways to connect ChucK with additional synthesizers in such way that I could get sample-by-sample output and slow down the generation of wav (with -s flag). - Are there more synthesizers built-in to ChucK. - Are there add-on modules with more instruments. - Are there examples about how to build natural sounds with those built-in oscillators and effects. As I try to get something, what would not sound too electronic or too flat. Tambet

"&" Bitwise intersection of two numbers. The & object performs a bit- by-bit "and" of two numbers (expressed in binary for the task).
