ugens of type 'DAC' have no input

The following error keeps popping up (seemingly randomly) when launching shreds in mini-Audicle (0.2.0 gidora) "ugens of type 'DAC' have no input" This seems absurd that the DAC can't accept input. It is happening on multiple MacBooks (2.13 GHz intel Core 2 Duo. OS X 10.5.8) with different shreds. I can launch the programs from Terminal, but some of them don't function correctly in that environment (particularly things dealing with the tilt-sensor). GenX subclasses not assigning properly (using @=>)

I've got this public class that goes like this: Phasor p => GenX g => env; with the assumption that I can just do a Gen9 gen @=> myObject.g; and have it all work out. However, this doesn't seem to be working. I do this: Gen9 gen; [1.0, 0.6, 0.3, 1.75, 0.1, 0.1] => gen.coefs; gen @=> s[i].g; and it gives me no sound, but if I change the GenX in the public class to Gen9 then it works. I've seen this work before with other things, so what am I doing wrong here? I'm not getting any compiler errors or warnings, either. I'm wondering if maybe it's calling some kind of earlier method, and not a more specific one. I've tried doing .lookup(int) on the Gen9 and it totally works, and when I do <<< s[i].g.toString() >>> it gives me "Gen9:1777af20" : (string). Sound just doesn't work though. Anyway, any help is appreciated here--I'm totally stuck on this one. Andrew

FileIO.read( int ) -- why not implement?

Hey list, it's been a while. I've got this quick little script for reading in Scala files, and there's a particularly important part of it that goes like this: if (scale.more() && scale.read(1) == "/") { if (scale.more()) { scale.readInt(1) => den; } } Basically, I'm just reading in from the file (FileIO scale) to see if the next character is a slash. If so, it's a ratio and I assume that the next number is the denominator. However, I had to go in and un-comment the whole FileIO.read(int) section in the source code. I haven't had any problems with it and can't figure out why it was commented out. It seems so useful to just read a particular number of characters, but this workaround means that I can't share my code with anyone else very easily. Also, we had that wish list going and no one ever said (at least not that I saw) "regular expressions." But, seriously, that would be so helpful for parsing outside information. And I think you all know how much fun it is to pump random outside data through algorithms. I don't exactly see how the FileIO thing is particularly useful unless there's some way of parsing the data. What have you all come up with? Is anyone using FileIO? What about a Floss addition? Please note that this technique is squarely in the "powertools can maim" category; it's very powerful, getting around some of ChucK's limitations but it runs right next to the edge of where the VM will crash because of the casting. pulse width modulation

I'm trying to model the following in ChucK "OSC1, OSC2, and an LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) Modulation: OSC1 produces a simple square wave tone, the pulsewidth of which is modulated with OSC2, and then amplitude modulated with the LFO oscillator." I think I understand the LFO amplitude modulation part, but I don't understand what pulse width modulation with osc2 means.
