Hi David, Could it be matter of permissions? On Linux I remember initially I had something similar, then I gave miniAudicle and ChucK the right permissions and everything was fine. I don't remember how to check this on Windows off the top of my head, maybe try to run miniAudicle as administrator and see if it works. Out of curiosity, can you run the examples in the 'hid' folder? Cheers, Mario

Is there a way to run chuck to just check syntax?

I'm looking at trying to add more to my ChucK vscode extension, and I'd love to be able to run chuck on the code being edited so that I can parse and highlight the errors. However, I don't know how you would run chuck to just generate syntax errors. I see there is a --silent switch, which would work for the purpose, but would be an unnecessary waste of resources just to get the possible syntax errors. Csound has a --syntax-check-only command-line option. Is there something like this for ChucK? If not, would it be straightforward to add one? Forrest

Makey Makey and miniAudicle (Windows)

I am in Germany, trying to teach a workshop with ChucK and Makey Makey devices. It is no problem with OSX laptops. However, on PCs, miniAudicle doesn't recognize Makey Makey as an HID. The laptop in general detects the MakeyMakey as a keyboard (e.g., I can type with it in a text document and it works as an interface with the online MakeyMakey piano https://apps.makeymakey.com/piano/). But I can't run Chuck programs in miniAudicle. How to integrate Chuck into my own program?

Hi guys, Since, I am not developing for Chuck itself, so, I thought this might be a more appropriate place to ask this question. Is it possible to integrate Chuck into a program that I am writing? Basically, I would like to utilize Chuck's strong time nature to create a custom clock plugin for another environment, specifically Touchdesigner. TD is great for visuals, however, for audio related stuff, its clock can be bit unstable. It has a feature which allows external programs to communicate with it via a shared memory block, which would be the fastest way to get info into TD without overheads like protocol decoding. My goal is to create a custom clock(s) generator to send pulses into TD via the shared mem block. So, my question is can I use Chuck in this way? And how would I go about doing that? I know this is a rather simplistic use of Chuck, but I really like Chuck's strong time nature, its concurrency abilities and being particularly lightweight. I searched the documentations, and didn't really find anything. So, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Da.

(much ChucK-mediated mayhem will be afoot!) 2019: A SLOrk Odyssey — A Concert of New Frontiers http://slork.stanford.edu/events/2019/spring/ The Stanford Laptop Orchestra (SLOrk) will present new works for the full ensemble in Bing Concert Hall on Saturday, June 8th. You are warmly invited to an evening of music made at the intersection of humans, computers, hemispherical speaker arrays, new instruments, and novel musical spaces. LiSa.feedback behavior

Hello all — I'm working with the LiSa.feedback parameter and it doesn't seem to be behaving as expected. I was assuming 0 would be "keep nothing when overdubbing" and 1 would be "keep everything." This doesn't seem to be the case; it seems to be default to something near 50%. I have confirmed that I am changing the property but the behavior seems to be stuck at the default. I have tried value as high as 100, which gives some crackling, but no change in behavior. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance, Greg

question: import/export functions and classes

Hi All, I am new to this mailing list, I am an italian mathematician working in IT since 2005. I used chuck some time ago (around 2009?) to generate music with prime numbers and it was great! I really like ChucK, both features and syntax. Now I would like to create a collection of chuck programs to do some live coding and having fun with music. I am really excited, as a mathematician, about the fact that ChucK supports complex numbers. There are some features I look for in a programmin languange and complex numbers are a nice to have. Another feature I usually look for is packaging, I was reading documentation and it looks like (or at least I could not find) a way to import / export a function or a class. For example I would like to create a folder with some functions and classes and reuse them with some sort of export / import: is that possible currently in chuck? For example, a function that iterates, I don't know, for example with Julia's formulas, could be used by different instruments, so it would be handy to define it in a file, say it julia.ck, and import it in other ChucK files. chuck serial arduino weirdness

Dear chuckians, Not sure how many of you have messed with the serial objects - but I’m having a bit of a head-scratcher and wondered if anyone had any ideas about this. I built a little box with one knob and one switch - which I’m planning to use as a master volume and mute switch for a multichannel audio installation that is running in Chuck. I then wrote a little chuck script, based partially on one of Spencer’s examples. It simply grabs the data and prints it to the console. It works great for awhile, but after a few minutes, it always crashes with an array-out-of-bounds exception: NullPointerException: (array access) on line[35] I’m grabbing two ints, and looping through and printing them out. Why is the array size suddenly getting mucked up here? It’s intermittent, and sometimes doesn’t happen for several minutes, but always results in a crash eventually. Any ideas??
