Working on the next version of my ChucK vscode extension

I'm working on a new version of my vscode extension for chuck that will run chuck to check for diagnostic errors. I've got a basically working but not ready for prime time version in the syntax-checker branch of my github repo: https://github.com/forrcaho/vscode-chuck/tree/syntax-checker Note that this will require a chuck built from the latest sources at https://github.com/ccrma/chuck because I'm using the new `--syntax` switch which was just added to run chuck just for syntax checking. Mini Audicle build error

Greetings, I am new to ChuCK and miniaudicle. I joined the course on Kadenze to learn. I use linux laptop. The build is Ubuntu Studio 19.04. I was able to build chuck without errors using the tutorial from the website. I, however, encounter the following error when I try to build miniaudicle. I understand that it does not support qt5 which is why I replaced it with qt4 and qt4-dev. I still get the following error. Makey Makey and miniAudicle (Windows)

Hi David, Could it be matter of permissions? On Linux I remember initially I had something similar, then I gave miniAudicle and ChucK the right permissions and everything was fine. I don't remember how to check this on Windows off the top of my head, maybe try to run miniAudicle as administrator and see if it works. Out of curiosity, can you run the examples in the 'hid' folder? Cheers, Mario

Is there a way to run chuck to just check syntax?

I'm looking at trying to add more to my ChucK vscode extension, and I'd love to be able to run chuck on the code being edited so that I can parse and highlight the errors. However, I don't know how you would run chuck to just generate syntax errors. I see there is a --silent switch, which would work for the purpose, but would be an unnecessary waste of resources just to get the possible syntax errors. Csound has a --syntax-check-only command-line option. Is there something like this for ChucK? If not, would it be straightforward to add one? Forrest

Makey Makey and miniAudicle (Windows)

I am in Germany, trying to teach a workshop with ChucK and Makey Makey devices. It is no problem with OSX laptops. However, on PCs, miniAudicle doesn't recognize Makey Makey as an HID. The laptop in general detects the MakeyMakey as a keyboard (e.g., I can type with it in a text document and it works as an interface with the online MakeyMakey piano https://apps.makeymakey.com/piano/). But I can't run Chuck programs in miniAudicle. How to integrate Chuck into my own program?

Hi guys, Since, I am not developing for Chuck itself, so, I thought this might be a more appropriate place to ask this question. Is it possible to integrate Chuck into a program that I am writing? Basically, I would like to utilize Chuck's strong time nature to create a custom clock plugin for another environment, specifically Touchdesigner. TD is great for visuals, however, for audio related stuff, its clock can be bit unstable. It has a feature which allows external programs to communicate with it via a shared memory block, which would be the fastest way to get info into TD without overheads like protocol decoding. My goal is to create a custom clock(s) generator to send pulses into TD via the shared mem block. So, my question is can I use Chuck in this way? And how would I go about doing that? I know this is a rather simplistic use of Chuck, but I really like Chuck's strong time nature, its concurrency abilities and being particularly lightweight. I searched the documentations, and didn't really find anything. So, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Da.

(much ChucK-mediated mayhem will be afoot!) 2019: A SLOrk Odyssey — A Concert of New Frontiers http://slork.stanford.edu/events/2019/spring/ The Stanford Laptop Orchestra (SLOrk) will present new works for the full ensemble in Bing Concert Hall on Saturday, June 8th. You are warmly invited to an evening of music made at the intersection of humans, computers, hemispherical speaker arrays, new instruments, and novel musical spaces.
