The conference is organised by the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM). IEM is one of the leading institutions in the field of audio engineering and computer music. As part of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, IEM is a multidisciplinary institution, whose general mission is to bridge the gap between science and the arts. As a unique characteristic, IEM focuses on sonification as part of its research in computer music. IEM facilities include laboratories and performance spaces such as CUBE, which are equipped with spatial audio and motion tracking systems. Since 2014, IEM hosts the Sonic Interaction Design (SID) lab, in which interactive sound systems are designed and evaluated. ICAD is a highly interdisciplinary conference with relevance to researchers, practitioners, artists, and graduate students working with sound to convey and explore information. The conference is unique in its specific focus on auditory displays and the range of interdisciplinary issues related to their use. Like its predecessors, ICAD15 will be a single-track conference, open to all, with no membership or affiliation requirements. Work that is complete enough that meaningful conclusions can be drawn at the time of submission are encouraged. Authors of accepted submissions will be invited to participate in a poster and/or demonstration session, and at least one author must present the work at the conference for the paper to appear in the published proceedings. When weighing the decision to submit to poster and demonstration sessions, we encourage authors to consider their work in relation to the potential positive benefits (both to authors and their audiences) afforded by the personal interactions that occur in this type of session. Authors of selected full papers will be invited to submit an extended version (up to 12 pages) of their papers for publication in a Special Issue of the Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces (JMUI): Auditory Display. The works will be reviewed by an international panel of sound and sonification experts. Preference will be given to submissions that are technically feasible and have a clear documentation of the setup. At least one of the authors who wish to have their works presented at ICAD15 must register and attend to the conference. As we would like to extend the presentation of these works beyond the time limits of the conference, authors of accepted works are encouraged to present their work also online using the Research Catalogue (http://www.researchcatalogue.net), an international database for artistic research. You could try assign subclass instances to arrays of it's parent class, as shown in the snippet bellow. spork~ and multiple cpus

hi I have problems getting shreds to spread load over multiple cpus neither from miniAudicle nor commandline chuck Running linux Debian 3.2.0-4-amd64, chuck 1.3.4.0 jack, miniAudicle 1.3.2 jack I just tested the same .ck files on a mac and it looks like that the sporked shreds automatically spreads over at least 2 of 4 (4 of 8) cores. Is there any more information to find about how to handle or understand these issues, or does anyone have any tricks to share? Much greetings Vilbjørg

timestamp

Is there a way to get the system's timestamp? Something like PHP's time(). I'm asking because I'm trying to append a unique string to a filename (something like errors_143234334.log), where 143234334 would be a timestamp or a date. An alternative approach is to generate a random number, but then I loose sequentiality. Thanks! Gonzalo

Mesh2D chugin: problem with setting .xpos/.ypos

Hello, I am trying to get Mesh2D into an useful thing. However, even though I assign arbitrary float values to .xpos or .ypos, they always return zero regardless of my explicit declaration. Not super efficient (circular buffers would be required for that), but direct from the definition. Most efficient would be FFT based. If there's no example of that. I'll make one. Standby. Enjoy!! real-time convolution in Chuck

Hi - I have a performance problem, and I wonder if anyone has already solved this. I want to do a time-domain convolution of a real time signal (generated with a MIDI controller) and an IR of a cello body (a short .wav file). TIME DOMAIN: I tried first doing it brute-force, in the time domain: (1) I pre-loaded the IR wav file (with SndBuf) into an array (truncated to N elements), and normalized the values (divided by the sum of the abs values) (2) using .last() I kept grabbing each music sample (and keeping the last N values in a circular buffer) (3) for each new music input value, I convolved the last N with the IR, and then stuffed the output into the dac (using an Impulse UGen) Surprisingly, it worked. Not surprisingly it ran out of steam with N > 50… ;-) Has anybody coded this as a Chugin, and made it work with reasonable-size IRs? FREQUENCY DOMAIN: Would this go much faster if instead of the above, I pre-computed the DFT of the IR, and then went in block fashion doing FFTs of the music, multiplying by the IR spectrum, doing the iFFT, and overlap-summation to get the time domain signal? Has anybody coded this in Chuck or as a Chugin? SC: Or is this the kind of application for which I should go with SuperCollider instead, to get the required real-time performance? Thanks, Daniel
