Obviously what I posted works, but the extra cast isn't necessary. So all that's really needed is: Std.atof(me.arg(2)) => float MAX_TIME; PRC

Wolfgang, args come in as strings, so convert using: Std.atof(me.arg(2)) $ float => float MAX_TIME;

hi, Finally had time to implement an idea i had been looking at of using git versioning to track my actions while live coding in chuck. Using biquad...

Hey guys i'm working on a sampler that uses a simple equation system to determine parameters of reverb, volume and pitch filtering. The goal is to emulate 'depth' using the idea that if a sound's source moves away from our ears, we will perceive it as quieter and more diffused, with its high-pitch content less present. Motivated by this, I started to read about the biquad ugen, but i haven't figured out how to deal with its coefficients so I can make something interesting out of it. My question is, how can i make a high cut filter that gradually reduces the high-pitched content of the sound signal's spectrum, based on an input of 0-100? (0 = no filtering, 100 = no high-pitch content) thanks!

float arguments form command line

Hey again! does anybody knows how to get float arguments from the command line window? I tried: if( me.args() ) //0: filename,1: min_time,2: max_time { me.arg(0) => string filename; me.arg(1) $ float => float MIN_TIME; me.arg(2) $ float => float MAX_TIME; } but I'm getting "line(4): invalid cast to 'float' from 'string'"

I knocked together a quick sonic experiment in Chuck last night that uses the Fibonacci sequence and φ to determine each note's pitch, duration, and vibrato settings. I haven't done much with Chuck in quite a while but was highly pleased how easily the experiment converged (about 15 minutes all told). Hi, My friend woody and I have just got this cool OSC server working. It receives messages from the 3D VR world of Second Life and sends them to another computer's OSC receiver. The purpose of this is to provide a means of 3D VR GUI control of ChucK, pd, and well anything that will work that way. This has the potential to form a bridge between the music software community and the Second Life community, to the benefit of both groups. So we can get it to work with pd but not with ChucK. I basically read, understood, and copied the example snippets from the manual where it talks about OSC in the beginning of it. I also tested that things worked using localhost. So the receiver should receive across the web as well, right? Or does the listen() need a parameter? Anyway, ChucK blocks the port so even pd won't work, but when I quit ChucK pd works (with a restart). So somehow I think ChucK or rather the ChucK program that I wrote, is clogging up the port and listening only on localhost. This should be an easy fix, what is it? Thanks in advance, Les

WvOut and Bit depth

Hi, How does one set the bit depth for this ugen? I want to record a 32bit float wav file. In the documentation the only methods are to set the file type and close the file after the recording. Are there any other methods that aren't documented, or there extra arguments I can use in the .wavFilename method? many thanks

Very cool. I'll have to give that a try. Speaking of interoperability, what's the best way to talk to ChucK from Processing (on OS X)? Calling out to the command line? Have Processing send out MIDI notes, and ChucK listening for them? Or has anyone written a Processing library that either wraps ChucK or provides an interface?
