ENP2505 Example Issues

I recently started working with the ENP2505 board that Intel is shipping for their IXP1200 academic program. After hacking their install scripts, dealing with kernel symbol issues, and hacking their boot scripts, I finally got the thing to boot Linux and communicate with the host system. I then made the encouraging discovery that all the sample projects are (seemingly) for other boards. Although they'll load, the board will proceed to spit out malformed Ethernet packets (each packet identical) as fast as the interface will allow. This is with the simple packet counting example. Is there a bare bones MicroACE, such as the counting example, that actually works on the ENP2505? Also, the documentation and tools provided with the board seems to indicate that using the ACE development paradigm is mandatory. Is it possible just to run microcode with no communication back to the ARM on ENP2505, ie, non-ACE code? Yan, This warning should have no effect on the production of an .asm file. Of course, if you had errors in your build, that is a different story. Check your build directory for a file named <c_file_with_main_in_it>.asm if you didn't specify a specific name with the -Fa switch. But note that you can look at the assembly code generated from a Microengine C file easily without using the -Fa switch. When using the Workbench (v2.01) in debug mode, choosing a thread to view will, by default, display the source code for the thread. However, there is a toggle switch on that window (it has a yellow and green page icon circularly pointing to each other) that will display the .list file containing the assembly for the source code line your cursor is currently on. Hi Zuki, After several debugging test and as you told me yesterday, I came to the conclusion that the ixp1200eb hangs within the Control_SystemStart(). Anyway it's still hard to tell where the bug is hiding since, even with the help of led(), we have experienced different behaviors according to different kernel used. It seems that troubles come within this chunk of code: Control_SystemStart() { .... // Initialize and Start interrupts Int_Init(printPortData, NULL, ueInterruptHandler); led(0xC1); Int_addSlowHandler(timerCallbackFn); led(0xC2); control_init_ui(); // Initialize the user interface led(0xC3); Int_addFastHandler(UI_checkUART); led(0x25); // Set the VRP to SA forwarding rate, used only for a test scratchWrite32(VRP_TO_SA_RATE_ADDR, 0); led(0xC4); Fmt_print("--- Control_SystemStart done\n\n"); led(0xC5); ... In some cases, once the sa hanged, the led shows the 0xC4 step, in others, with different kernels, it hangs at 0xC2 step. In both cases it seems that the board is not able to complete the Fmt_print() call, and the last printed message is always truncated at 10th char sent to the serial port. Hi Zuki, We are currently running uca.exe shipped with skd2.01 which Intel gave us together with the IXP1200eb. We also have uca.exe Version: 1.3.141, which seems to compile fine with the license key of the former. Both are giving troubles; indeed the example-binaries compiled for LibixpRouter hang in this manner: Jumping to: 0xC1002000 bss_start = 0xC1011F94 bss_end = 0xC101282C (length) = 0x00000898 Sbrk_heap_ptr_ = 0xC1013000 Sbrk_heap_end_ = 0xC1CF8000 (length) = 0x00CE5000 (13204 Kbytes) Enabling MMU MMU enabled Calling sram_init() Calling scratch_init() Calling PCI_mapout_init() PCI_mapout_init: PCI_dram_siz = 0x02000000 PCI_mapout_init: PCI_dram_bar = 0x12000000 Calling my_main() --- Control_SystemStart --- Contr ( the last printed message is truncated ). In the README of libixprouter is specified you are using the uca 1.2.76. Can it be a problem caused by the improper version of ucc.def/uword.def we are using? Has anyone programmed the ixp1200 so as to use mixed interfaces? Both Gigabit and Mbps ? What happens with the Ready Bus Sequencer? Is it possible to use all of the Gigabit and the Megabit interfaces (2 + 8) ?? It seems to me that it is either in Slow Port mode or Fast Port mode, but not mixed... Thank you in advance!
