The large size is most likely due to the inclusion of debugging information (the -g option). Of course the uof file format will have some overhead for magic numbers and headers, even without debugging information, but most of the extra space comes from the symbols (i.e., strings) included for debugging. I am not a uof file expert, but this is my best guess. Hi, Sorry this question is not related to VERA ,but I thought I could get my answer here. When I compile any of the INTELS SDK 2.01 reference projects ,then the size of the final .uof file is more than the capacity of the control store of the 6 microengines For eg:For the L3Fwd16 reference project the final uof file size is 346KB.Now my questions are 1)How does this 346KB uof file gets loaded into 2kB of control store on all microengines. 2)How do I know when my uof file will exceed the 2kB limit of the control store. 3)Does the Linker throw any exception. Hello! Our group runs the assembler and the compiler under WINE. Attached in files.txt is a list of files we have in our WINE /c/ixp1200 directory. You also have to take the registry entries you have under SYSTEM\Intel\Intel IXP1200\UengineC on your Windows install and put those entries in WINE's system.reg file. Then add c:\\ixp1200\\bin to the "config" file in WINE. I think that's it... Let me know if it doesn't work. Oh, and we are using WINE build 20020122. Greetings all, We have been trying to get the microC compiler from the IXA SDK to run under Wine, but have hit a road block. We have copied the uccl.exe, ixa_license.dll and mcpcom.exe files into a Wine-accessable directory. When we run: wine -- uccl.exe -help We get the appropriate help message: Usage: uccl [options] file1 [file2 ...] [-link [linker_options]] (etc...) But when we run it with a file (any file) we get: error: Your MicroEngine C Compiler installation is corrupt, please reinstall Has anyone else tried running this under Wine? Any success? Hi All, Has anybody tried out memory accesses on pci devices connected to IXP1200EB pci slots? I have interfaced a DAQ on one of the pci slots. VxWorks is able to detect the card and also assign BARs to it. But I dont see any BSPs using which I can easily read from the card. The card is being mapped (memory mapped) at addresses: - bus 0 dev 8 error 0 id 10932A80 size 00001000 addr 02201000 size 00001000 addr 02202000 Does the region in memory (above 1Mb, or 16MB or something like that) have any effect on the way memory read/write is done? What documentation do I refer to in order to find out how to read and write to memory in VxWorks. Regards, Sandeep. Mahesh, I'll assume that you are running the VERA microcode; we never ran the microcode in simulation, so I am not sure what the real answer is. However, this might correspond to a problem we've been having on real hardware where the ready bits are stale as we read them, so we get bad data from the FIFO. Unfortunately I don't know a good solution for this problem. Inspite of following the instructions as mentioned in the manual I am unable to write to the flash. Read from flash is successful, but writes are not happening. Have any of you faced a similar problem? Do I need to take some extra steps before writes are allowed? The device continuously makes attempts to write but in the end is unable to write anything. TFTPing problem in Linux

Hallo, My apologies first for asking a question not related to Vera. I am using SDK 2.01 on an IXP1240 (192.168.133.38) and trying to get the Linux kernel to boot up in Cygmon from a remote Linux tftp server (192.168.133.40). I am having the problem of Cygmon stuck at the message: TFTPing /tftpboot/zImage... the moment I issued a glinux command without returning a login prompt on the remote shell. My config is as follows: Local IP (192.168.133.40) Remote IP (192.168.133.38) Linux kernel file name (zImage) Linux ramdisk file name (ramdisk_img.gz) Linux kernel load offset (C4008000) sram size : 4k dram size: 0x6FFF000 Upstream win:1M Next, I tried out from Cygmon: tftp 192.168.133.38 192.168.133.40 /tftpboot/ramdisk_img.gz 0xc1000000 but the same problem occurs. It stops at TFTPing /tftpboot/ramdisk_img.gz... In fact, I can ping to the target when this message appears and an "tftp unreachable" packet was also captured. I don't quite understand this because I am sure the TFTP server is working correctly as I could get the file 'zImage' or 'ramdisk_img' that I want from the Linux server onto the WinNT (192.168.133.133) which is also hooked to the same subnet for the purpose of Workbench development by issuing a "tftp 192.168.133.38 GET /tftpboot/zImage". I am running the server on Linux 7.2. The TFTP's port is enabled and ipchain service is switched off. I appreciate if anyone could offer me a pointer or solution to that and how I could reach the stage of remote login prompt. kind regards, cheewei

NFS from IXP1200 Linux to external Windows 2000 server

Hi, We are having difficulty trying to NFS-mount from the IXP1200 Linux client to our Windows 2000 server, and we'd like to know if anyone has succeeded in doing this. We've tried three different NFS servers on Windows 2000: (1) The OMNI NFS Server provided by Intel (2) The TrueGrid public domain NFS server (3) A demo version of nfsAxe from LabF The NFS client usually just hangs in the mount command, but sometimes the failure mode is for it to print the message: "nfs: server 172.16.2.14 not responding, still trying". Occasionally, the mount command will complete, but attempting to do an "ls" in the mounted directory will hang. We have also tried using an NFS server on Linux, but that doesn't change anything, so we suspect the problem is with the IXP1200 Linux download image. The image files (zImage and ramdisk_img.gz) provided with IXA SDK 2.01 are different than those provided with IXA SDK 2.0, but both fail the same way with regard to NFS mounting. If someone has succeeded in getting this to work, then at least we'll know that the problem is on our end. Regards, Dave

problem while flashing princeton firmware

Hello, We attempted to flash the princeton firmware onto an IXP1200 board and ran into a problem. We ran futil as described in the readme, using the image file "~/Runtime/ixp1200/sa/src/Firmware/flashImage.bin". Futil had no problems sending the data to the IXP, and we got a "sending data 100%" message. However, in the next step where Futil went to update the flash, it stopped at "update flash 0%" and had a timeout. After this, the board has been locked up displaying an '88' code. We are unable to talk to the board via serial. We've also tried re-jumpering it and installing it in a linux PC using the vera module, but the vera module can't talk to it either. Is there a way to recover from this or is the flash corrupted? Thanks, Scott

Joining the club here ... I apologize for abusing this list, Intel doesnt seem to have a proper support list (yeah, i gotta find that FAE). I have the 2.01 CD with the C0 cPCI board. Can some point me to where the Linux source is? example what seems to be kernel modules giga_drv.o ue.o and utilities like ixconfig etc. The bianries are there, but no source (at least that i could find). Attempting to run 2.4.x kernels so binaries being compiled against 2.3.99-x dont help. I am generally refering to binaries found at: eLinuxIDE-IXP1200/cygwin/opt/ixasdk/bin/arm-be/debug Any help would be appreciated. cheers, jamal
