Zuki, It would be much easier to me if you could send us the set of working binaries (vera.o, libIXPRouter.a and ipcache.{o,d,srec} ). Comparing your binaries to ours and reversing the code, I could easily understand if it is either a hardware fault (in case they don't differ and don't run in our system) or a software misconfiguration (otherwise). Since our box is using the compile environment provided with the tarball I donwloaded from your website, there are no reasons for having different binaries. Regards, Nicola

Hi Zuki, After several debugging test and as you told me yesterday, I came to the conclusion that the ixp1200eb hangs within the Control_SystemStart(). Anyway it's still hard to tell where the bug is hiding since, even with the help of led(), we have experienced different behaviors according to different kernel used. It seems that troubles come within this chunk of code: Control_SystemStart() { .... // Initialize and Start interrupts Int_Init(printPortData, NULL, ueInterruptHandler); led(0xC1); Int_addSlowHandler(timerCallbackFn); led(0xC2); control_init_ui(); // Initialize the user interface led(0xC3); Int_addFastHandler(UI_checkUART); led(0x25); // Set the VRP to SA forwarding rate, used only for a test scratchWrite32(VRP_TO_SA_RATE_ADDR, 0); led(0xC4); Fmt_print("--- Control_SystemStart done\n\n"); led(0xC5); ... In some cases, once the sa hanged, the led shows the 0xC4 step, in others, with different kernels, it hangs at 0xC2 step. In both cases it seems that the board is not able to complete the Fmt_print() call, and the last printed message is always truncated at 10th char sent to the serial port. Hi Zuki, We are currently running uca.exe shipped with skd2.01 which Intel gave us together with the IXP1200eb. We also have uca.exe Version: 1.3.141, which seems to compile fine with the license key of the former. Both are giving troubles; indeed the example-binaries compiled for LibixpRouter hang in this manner: Jumping to: 0xC1002000 bss_start = 0xC1011F94 bss_end = 0xC101282C (length) = 0x00000898 Sbrk_heap_ptr_ = 0xC1013000 Sbrk_heap_end_ = 0xC1CF8000 (length) = 0x00CE5000 (13204 Kbytes) Enabling MMU MMU enabled Calling sram_init() Calling scratch_init() Calling PCI_mapout_init() PCI_mapout_init: PCI_dram_siz = 0x02000000 PCI_mapout_init: PCI_dram_bar = 0x12000000 Calling my_main() --- Control_SystemStart --- Contr ( the last printed message is truncated ). In the README of libixprouter is specified you are using the uca 1.2.76. Can it be a problem caused by the improper version of ucc.def/uword.def we are using? Has anyone programmed the ixp1200 so as to use mixed interfaces? Both Gigabit and Mbps ? What happens with the Ready Bus Sequencer? Is it possible to use all of the Gigabit and the Megabit interfaces (2 + 8) ?? It seems to me that it is either in Slow Port mode or Fast Port mode, but not mixed... Thank you in advance! I use peth driver with ixp1200, and meet this error message. this error will drop some output packet occasionally, who will tell me what is happend, thanks very much this error is below: $ insmod ue.o $ insmod octmac.o $ insmod giga_drv.o $ rs_udebug $ load $ ping 1.2.1.1 then I meet the error message like that: peth_start_xmit called peth_start_xmit: new descriptor = 0 Bad descriptor 0, dropping outgoing packet pethFreeDescriptor: descriptor = 0 pethFreeDescriptor: Bad descriptor 0 Best Regard

Problems with ixasl.o driver

Hello. I'm using IXP1200 evaluation board. Image of linux kernel and ramdisk are downloaded from IXP1200 linux how to (http://www.netwinder.org/~urnaik/ixp1200_howto.html). When I try to start one of the examples provided with Intel IXA SDK (example "Count_8_1") the ixstart script fais producing the following error messages: [root@Linux /nfs]$./ixstart ixsys_count_8_1.config >ixasl.o: unresolved symbol get_virtual_mem_map >library aces require ixasl driver. >ixasl driver does not appear to be running. >ixconfig: Resource Manager intialization failed >Wed Dec 31 20:19:11 1969 >rmlib.c, line 80: open failed: errno 2 get_virtual_mem_map symbol does not exported by kernel (i used ksyms utility to verify this). ix_time_real() problems

Hi, In our IXP project, we want to calculate the time spent in a particular program segment on StrongARM. The program is written in C++. What we did is using ix_time library like this: ix_error myfunction(...) { ix_time t1, t2, t3; int sec, nsec; ECK( ix_time_real(&t1)) ; /* some code here */ ECK( ix_time_real(&t2)); ECK( ix_time_sub(&t3, &t2, &t1)); ECK( ix_time_get(&t3, &sec, &nsec)); printf("sec=%d, nsec=%d", sec, nsec); } However, the nsec printed out sometimes has negative value. Unable to pump data stream into L2L3NAT_8_1Gig_hw example project

Hi, I have done some modification on L2L3NAT_8_1Gig_hw project so that it can be run under simulation mode. Following are changes I have made: 1. Change to Simulation mode 2. Define SIMULATION,BUILDFREELIST for Microengine 5. 3. Uncomment the following statement in EgressInit[]: immed[temp2, 0x00d7] immed[temp1, 0x00db] And comment out the following statements: immed[temp2, 0x00b7] immed[temp1, 0x00bb] 4. Create a script file to initialize SRAM, DRAM, and Scratchpad 5. Set data stream and assign I/O ports to pump in packets. But, I found that data stream could not be pumped into RFIFO. Thus the content of RFIFO are zeros and TFIFO are uninitialized. Anybody have encountered this problem? How to solve it? Thanks. Hello, I have an array of pointers in SDRAM (arrayPtrs) that point to other SDRAM locations which contain the actual data. I am trying to read this data using the sdram_read_ind function as follows: //Declared globally __declspec(sdram) data_t* arrayPtrs[DIMS]; .... ..... read_data() { .... sdram_read_write_ind_t ind1; __declspec(sdram_read_reg) data_t *temp; ind1.ctx = 0; ind1.ov_ctx = 0; ind1.reserved = 0; ind1.byte_mask = 0; ind1.ov_byte_mask = 0; ind1.ref_count = 1; ind1.ov_ref_count = 0; ind1.xadd = 0; ind1.abs = 0; ind1.ov_xadd = 0; ind1.ueng_addr = 0; ind1.ov_ueng_addr = 0; sdram_read_ind( temp, arrayPtrs[0], 1, ind1, queue_default, sig_done); ctx_wait(sdram); .... .... } With this code, I get the following compiler error: (for the line of code that contains: "ind1,") error : intrinsic data buffer must be a local variable passed by direct reference error : intrinsic data buffer must be a non-shared variable passed by direct reference What am I missing here?
