Question about Netwinder Linux kernel

Hello, I have successfully setup netwinder Linux kernel (2.3.99-pre3) on ixp1200ev system. Does anyone can tell me how the memory map goes? I mean which address does the kernel occupy (I install the kernel to 0xC0808000) and in which address I can use with the uengines. To meet ever-escalating performance, flexibility and economy requirements, the networking industry has opted to build products around network processors. These processors are programmable yet application-specific; their designs are tailored to efficiently implement communications applications such as: routing, protocol analysis, voice and data convergence, firewalls, VPNs, and QoS. The term network processor is used here in the most generic sense -- from task-specific processors, such as classification and encryption engines, to more general-purpose packet or communications processors. Network processor design is an emerging field with numerous challenges and opportunities. The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for engineers and scientists from academia and industry to discuss their latest research in the architecture, design, programming, and use of these devices. We are especially interested in attracting new or experimental techniques and approaches. ENP-2505 fails to work with Dell Optiplex GX260 (oops ignore last)

Hi Irvine, I have seen interoperability problems between the ENP-2505/6 and some varieties of DELL systems. These problems seem to be related to the Primary lockout bit on the 21555 non-transparent bridge. One quick thing to try, If not already set to 1, change the bootmanager countdown to 1 and try again. Otherwise often another type of backplane (even other DELL systems), and more up to date BIOS may fix your problem. Hi, I get an ixp1200 board from Radisys, ENP2505. But it can not work with my PC, a Dell Optiplex GX260. When it's plugged in, the machine fails to boot, but resets endlessly. The chips set of the mainboard is Intel845G. Does anyone have any idea? Regards. Irvin

How to get rid of Intel's MicroACE?

Hi, I just have an ixp1200 to develope some applications. Through Intel provides its MicroACE as an default framework for the development, there's some thing that can not fitted into it well; then, following MicorACE becomes painful. Yet, Intel doesn't provide any documents on how to get rid of MicroACE. There's not a clear document on the APIes, which can be used by the application to directly inject microcodes into microengines, and trigger the operation. Would anyone with such experiences give some hints? Regards. Irvin

Hi all, Hi all, Can somebody help me how to install ixp1200 card in the pci slot linux 7.2 PC i.e. procedure for bringing up the card in the PCI slot and also for downloading over the linux image on it. And where can i find Intel provided PCI drivers and PCI network drivers both on the IXP1200 and the linux host which make the PCI look like ethN interface to the respective linux kernels. Thanks for any help you can offer. --Ashish

linux kernel on active plane

Hi all, Does anyone have an idea How to port Linux Kernel to IXP1200eb when it runs on active plane ( linux box PCI bus). I am running VERA flash on C0 ev Board. I am trying to run some Workbench compiled program (i.e. file.uof ) on ixp12eb with VERA active plane setting. --Ashish

On a similar note, does anyone have "top" running on IXP1200? I was able to cross-compile top using the IXA SDK 2.0, but then top needs libncurses. Also, by the way, ps does not show process priorities. Anyone know why this is so?
