Hi, The README of "inux 2.4.18 for ixp1200" says that it can not run on silicon older then Rev C0 IXP1200. But, what is the difference between the Rev C0 and the olders? Joel, Thanks a lot. It works perfect for me, thank you so much for you so detail instructions. After run the L3forearder example, I could ping each ports of the ENP2505 card from my PC. Attached file(ixsys_count_8_1.config) is a configuration file for the simple counting application from the SDK CDs. Would you like to help me to have a look at it? Compared ixsys_count_8_1.config with ixsys.config-l3fwdr, looks like that they are pretty much same in terms of format. Why I can ping ports after running ./ixstart ixsys.config-l3fwdr; but I cannot ping after running ./ixstart ixsys_8_1.config? what I mean, the total number of packet doesn't increase even though I pinged the right port. Thanks so much for your time and your help. Really appreciate it. P.S. The ueng always stops to wait for the ports to be ready, while the ports keep unready. Would you give me some hints? WorkBench in HARDWARE Mode?

Hi, Now, I meet problems in using WorkBench in HARDWARE mode. The microcodes have been successfully loaded and ran, but failed to get any packets from the ports. The same examples from Intel, if run out of WorkBench, it can receive packets from the ports; but if run in WorkBench, it fails. I've checked the correspondent registers, eg, RCV_RDY_LO. The value sounded abnormal in the later case. So, does it mean that ports or FBI and like stuffs are not properlly configured in WorkBench. Those honorable veterans, who can give me some hints? No need to do any configuration, ixconfig will do for you. As for packet generator, Intel suggest use IXIA or Shomiti, but I even don't know what are they? Who know? do tell me. If they're some kinds of special devices, I can't afford, I'm affraid. So I just use Linux host to generate to packets. Let me explain: I dont know anything about the Intel app but it could be that youre trying to send packets to the wrong eth addr---if you dont set one up on the IXPs (I have an app that will do that, bvmac, check out www.cercs.gatech.edu/projects/asan/software.html) AND send a packet (or by some means let the switch know about your eth addr) then the switch will probably just drop the packet.
